Pitch/logline:
The consciousness emptied from all souvenirs of his past, a middle-age man wakes up completely naked in an white empty room, totally devoid of doors and windows or any signs of life. Oscillating between paranoïa, fear and fascination, the man will try every possible means to escape his cubic prison and solve his own mystery, the mystery of his existence...
Author's Comments:
"Escape from Reality" is a film-concept, minimalist and radical, centered on only one unique character in one unique place. The main character doesn't talk because he has forgotten his own language but expresses himself through gestures and facial mimics. He is stuck in an empty closed room with no visible exits but he doesn't feel it this way because he has no memory or cognition of what is the outside world, if it even exists. He is like a newborn baby who has to discover by himself what is life and what it means to be a living being, to breath, to have some kind of existence. At the difference of a baby, he has no parents, no teachers, nobody to guide him and transmit him some basic knowledge, the rudiments of human langage and behaviour, the means to fulfill his needs and survive. He is completely alone, desperately alone, confronted to his own fears and contradictions. Noone can give him the answers he is looking for. All answers can only be found inside him, in the depth of his consciousness. He has no other choice, no other alternative...

The film is a metaphor of each stage of development of the ego inside man's consciousness, from his birth to his extinction, the death of the ego manifesting the awakening of man to his own nature, fundamentally pure, beyond all conditionings and identifications.
The symbolic archetypes:
-
the naked man = the human being in a state of mental nudity, the mind
totally devoid of all cultural or social conditionings, free from from
his past and his future;
- the closed room = the prison of the ego, from which man must release
himself through the exert of his free will;
- the white color= the innate purity of man, unstained from the beginning,
even if he doesn't recognize it. The purpose of man's spiritual journey
is to find out what has always been there...
At a later stage, this short film can be developed into a long-length feature film: "Escape from Reality : Chronicles of a Naked Man", where the naked man explores new dimensions of reality (and illusions).
