Project
outline:
A reflection on the violent religious oppression that was perpetrated against the Buddhist community and its leaders during the Vietnam War. A pamphlet for peace, tolerance and forgiveness.
Pitch/Logline:
Saigon, 1963. In a war-torn divided country, the South-Vietnamese Government leads a violent discriminatory campaign against Buddhism, the traditional religion of the vast majority of the country's population. Out of compassion for his fellow countrymen, a mysterious monk decides to start his own fight in the most unexpected way...
Author's comments:
The subject of the film and its universal themes currently serve as a basis for the development of a long-length historical feature film about Vietnam.
